Services for Wanda Blanche Strable, 79, St. Charles, who died Feb. 4, 1987, at the Bethesda Care Center, were held Feb. 6 at the St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Jim Patrick of Indianola officiating. Burial was at the St. Charles Cemetery.
Born in Madison County on Nov. 29, 1907, she was the daughter of Robert and Octavia Landers Neal. She attended Madison County schools and graduated from Winterset High School.
On Aug. 6, 1930, she was married to Raymond Earl Strable at St. Charles. She was employed at Younkers for 10 years, retiring in 1974. Mrs. Strable was a member of the Lutheran Church at Martensdale.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Kephart and husband Dale of St. Charles; a son, Larry Strable of Des Moines; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
The Strables operated the St. Charles nursing home from 1952 to 1965. They also owned the Sleepy Eye Motel in Martensdale for a number of years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
