OPAL FAYE STRABLE, St. Charles

Services for Opal Faye Strable, 85, a long-time St. Charles resident, who died at Charter Community Hospital, Des Moines on Feb. 9, 1984, were held Monday, Feb. 13 at the St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Chet Waterman officiating. Burial was at the St. Charles Cemetery.

Born Mar. 19, 1898 at St. Charles, she was the daughter of Jonathan and Sarah Jones Fleming. She attended Madison County schools and married Guy William Strable on July 1, 1914 in Carlisle. She spent most of her life as a husewife and in nursing care.

Mrs. Strable was a member of the United Methodist Women at the St. Charles Methodist Church and a member of the church since 1908. She was recently a resident of the Norwalk Care Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Garnetta Boughton and husband Loren of Booneville; sons, Guy and wife Eva of St. Joseph, Mo., and George and wife Ilene and Harrison and wife Pat, both of Lake Ponderosa, Montezuma; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son.

Opal Strable Dies Febr. 9

Opal Faye Strable, 85, formerly of St. Charles, died Thursday, February 9, 1984 at the Charter Community Hospital in Des Moines. Services were held Monday, February 13 at the St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Chet Waterman officiating at the 11 a.m. rites. Interment was in the St. Charles Cemetery.

Opal Faye Strable was born March 19, 1898 in St. Charles, Iowa to Jonathan Lee Fleming and Sarah Elizabeth Jones Fleming. She attended schools in Madison County and married Guy William Strable on July 1, 1914 in Carlisle, Iowa. Five children were born to this union. Opal was a member of the U.M.W. at the St. Charles Methodist Church and worked as a housewife and at nursing care.

Surviving relatives include: son, Guy Manson Strable and wife, Eva of St. Joseph, Missouri; daughter, Garnetta Boughton and husband, Loren of Booneville; son, George Delmar Strable and wife, Pat of Lake Ponderosa, Montezuma; son, Harrison H. Strable and wife, Pat of Lake Ponderosa, Montezuma; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Myron Edward.
