RITES HELD FOR HARLAN DENTON
Funeral services were held here last Wednesday, November 27, for Harlan G. Denton, a well-known Madison County farmer. Mr. Denton died at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset on Monday, November 25, at the age of 71.
Harlan G. Denton was born at Afton in Union County on June 11, 1903, the son of Charles and Nellie Cook Denton. He was married to Gertrude Molln at Shenandoah, Iowa on August 14, 1930.
Mr. Denton, a resident of Madison County for the past 42 years, was a retired farmer. He had moved to Winterset in 1967.
Mr. Denton was active as a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Winterset. He was a former president of the Madison County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ken (Kay) Harder of Nairobi, Kenya; and two grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: Carroll Denton of Winterset and Dale Denton of Creston; and a sister, Helen Caldwell of Creston.
Mr. Denton was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude, in 1973.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, at the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset, with the Rev. Lon Reising officiating. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
