FORMER RESIDENT KILLED IN KANSAS

Bert Lemon of South Haven, Kan., a former resident of Madison county, was killed Saturday night, Sept. 7, when the pickup he was driving overturned in a ditch there. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Mr. Lemon was 58 years of age. He was born Dec. 18th 1904 at Cherokee, Okla. He farmed in the Dalton-South Haven communities in Kansas for many years. He also lived in Madison county for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Louise; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Moreland of Belle Plaine, Kan., Mrs. Dora White of El Dorado and Mrs. Hazel Phillips of Wellington; a son, Ray Lemon of South Haven; six sisters, Mrs. Irene Bailey of Greenfield, Ia., Mrs. Edith Jordan of Belle Plaine, Kan., Mrs. Goldie Newhouse of South Haven, Mrs. Elsie Newhouse of Belle Plaine, Ia., Mrs. Zelma Snell of Greenfield, Ia., and Mrs. Ida Jones of California; four brothers, George Lemon of Newton, Kan., Guy Lemon of Adel, Ia., Leroy Lemon of Winterset and Frank Lemon of Greenfield. He also leaves nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sept. 10 in Belle Plaine in charge of the Rev. George Brock, Baptist minister. Burial was made in the Belle Plaine cemetery.
