ESTHER LEGGETT DIES AT 90 YEARS

St. Charles Resident for 90 Years Died Last Wednesday

Mrs. Esther M. Leggett, a resident of Madison county for 80 years, died last Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Truman Johnston of St.Charles. She was 90 years of age.

Mrs. Leggett was born near St. Charles on July 5, 1869. She was the former Esther May Scott, daughter of Oliver and Jane Scott. With the exception of 10 years in Warren County, her entire life was spent in Madison county.

She was married Jan. 1, 1891, to Charles Leggett, who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Methodist church in St. Charles and the Order of Eastern Star there.

In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Truman Johnston of St. Charles, she leaves five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the St. Charles Methodist church Saturday conducted by the Rev. W. C. Trembly. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.

Parker and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Mikesell, of Marne, Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Porter, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Porter, Mr. and Mrs. Jan Porter, Mr. and Mrs. Parker, and Mrs. Ethel Picken, all of Truro, Frank McClure, of New Virginia, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Brommel, Mrs. Ed Brommel, and Mrs. Georgia Peek of St. Marys, Mrs. Dorothy Campbell of New Virginia and Mrs. Paul Arasman of Indianola.
