Frank Allen Leeper, eldest son of George and Elizabeth Lenocker Leeper, was born May 16, 1872 in Penn township, Madison County, Iowa, and passed away at the Dexter hospital August 14, 1962. He was raised on the farm in Penn Township, and engaged in farming as his life occupation.

Early in his youth he united in the membership of the Penn Center church, and was active on its Official Board for many years. He helped to build the present building, and there maintained his membership as long as he lived. He lived the Christian Way all his life, and his sons cannot remember his having ever used profanity or deceit.

He was united in marriage October 18, 1899 to Lillian E. Morford, and to them were born four children, the oldest having died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Leeper observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary in 1959.

He was a member of the IOOF Lodge, and from it received a 50 years membership pin. He was school director for several years, and was active in all worthwhile organizations. He was a good farmer all of his life, and a devoted family man. He loved flowers, plants, livestock and gardening. He maintained an active body and an inquiring mind, and in his retirement his activity and good humor were always welcome in the community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, his infant son, and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Lillian, and two sons: Merle J. Leeper of Earlham, Claire F. Leeper of Winterset; and one daughter, Mrs. Edmond Clarke of Stuart; seven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Essie Moore of Dexter, and Mrs. Orville Maulsby of Chicago, Illinois, and a host of relatives and friends.

Services were held August 16 at the Penn Center church, with interment at the Penn Center cemetery under direction of the Evans Funeral Home. Mrs. LaVere McCleary played the music and Rev. John Latta officiated.
