LINCOLN TOWNSHIP FARMER SUCCUMBS

Fred Roy Died Wednesday Following Illness of Four Weeks

Fred Roy, well known Lincoln township farmer, died at his home Wednesday morning, Oct. 14th, about 11:30 a.m. Mr. Roy who was 59 years of age, had been ill for the past four weeks.

The deceased was the son of John and Paulina Roy, and was born on the farm in Lincoln township, which has since been his home. He leaves his wife, who was the former Mahala Eggleston, and their six children: Mrs. Bud Spick of Wick, Mrs. Charles Harpole of Winterset, Mrs. Howard Speer of Patterson, Lewis McDonald of St. Charles; Mrs. Dean Silverthorn of Lorimor and Mabel McDonald at home.

Definite funeral arrangements had not been made when the Madisonian went to press, but it is thought it will be at the Anderson home for funerals the latter part of the week.

DEATH CLAIMS FRED ROY, 59

Lifetime Resident Of Madison County. Wife, Six Children Survive.

Fred Roy, lifelong resident of Madison county, died at his farmhome in Lincoln township Wednesday morning following an extended period of ill health. He was 59 years of age.

He is survived by his wife and six children, Mrs. Fred Spick, Mrs. Howard Speer, Mrs. Deane Silverthorne, Mrs. Charles Harpole, Mable McDonald and Lewis McDonald and other relatives.

Arrangements for the funeral services had not been made when the News went to press Wednesday afternoon.

Fred Roy was born September 11, 1883, the son of John and Paulina Roy in the same farmhome where he resided at the time of his death.

He engaged in farming when a youth with his father and made that his lifelong occupation. In 1912 he was married to Amanda Huffman and they were the parents of six children. His wife preceded him in death in 1921. He remarried on August 25, 1928 to Mahala at Eggleston.

He was a member of the Methodist church.
