CLARENCE MACUMBER SUCCUMBED TUESDAY

Former Winterset Business Man Passes at 70 Years of Age.

Clarence Macumber, a life-long citizen of Madison county and former Winterset business man, died at his home near Earlham Tuesday. He had been ill but a short time, following a stroke.

Had he lived until Oct. 15, he would have been 71 years of age.

Mr. Macumber was a member of a pioneer Madison county family. He was born in this county on Oct. 15, 1871, the oldest son of Lindsey and Emily Church Macumber. As a young man he engaged in farming, and later moved to Winterset, where he was for several years connected with the McCall Land and Title company, and later with the Munson Manufacturing company. In his later years he again returned to farming.

He was married 43 years ago to Miss Caroline Frederickson. They were the parents of one son, George Macumber, of Winterset. Mrs. Macumber died 11 years ago. He was married a second time about seven years ago to Miss Josephine Hermon of Earlham. They are the parents of two sons, Albert, aged 2 years, and Clarence, aged two months.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Methodist church in Earlham. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
