MRS. SARAH NEELY DIED HERE MONDAY

Elderly Woman Had Lived Most of Life Near Lorimor

Mrs. Sarah Neely, a long-time resident of the Lorimor community, died Monday at the age of 78 years. She had been in failing health for the past 18 months.

Mrs. Neely was the former Sarah Eldora Routh, daughter of John and Lusina Routh, and was born near Pleasantville, on Oct. 23, 1875. Most of her early life was spent on a farm in Marion county. When she was about 16 years old she moved with her parents to a farm near Murray.

She was married in June, 1882, to Pinckney E. Neely. They were the parents of 11 children, nine of whom survive her. One son, Samuel Neely, and one daughter, Mrs. Forrest Jordan, preceded her in death.

Most of her married life was spent in the Lorimor community, but since 1927 she had lived near Winterset.

She is survived by her husband; six daughters, Mrs. Charles Gardner of Mingo, Mrs. Gertrude Smith of Lorimor, Mrs. Eldon Wilson of Winterset, Mrs. Clark Watkins of Freeport, Ill., and Vera and Florence Neely of Winterset; and three sons, Frank Neely of DeCoto, Calif., Fred Neely of Des Moines, and Ferol Neely of Alden. She also leaves 26 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one brother, Joshya Routh of Lorimor.

Funeral services were held from the Lorimor Methodist church in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp of Winterset, and burial was made in the Lorimor cemetery.
