CATHERINE GUTHRIE STAUFFER

Catherine, daughter of Mary and Terrance Guthrie, was born in County Killarnie, Ireland, the 5th day of May, 1837, and died in Madison county, Iowa, July 31, 1930, at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 26 days.

At the age of 15 years she came to America, locating at Chicago, Illinois. She was married in Keokuk, Iowa, to Joseph Stauffer, May 20, 1858. That same year they settled on a farm in Madison county and had resided here continuously until the date of her death.

To this union were born 9 children, 3 boys and 6 girls. The following children survive their mother: Mrs. Florence Baur, of Pasadena, California; Mrs. Wilma Boyles, of Pueblo, Colorado; Mrs. Josephine Leech, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mrs Clyde Reynolds, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jacob Stauffer, of San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by the following children: Mrs. Mary Young, Dr. Jessie Smith, John Stauffer and James Stauffer. Her husband passed away in 1923. Mrs. Stauffer is also survived by 27 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John T. Hall from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and burial was made in the McGinnis cemetery near Patterson, in the family lot there.
