Cyrus "Cy" Lattig, 80, of Macksburg died May 27, 2003, at Greater Community Hospital in Creston.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday, May 29) at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg. Burial was at Moon Cemetery of rural Macksburg (Grand River Township).
Cy was born March 17, 1923 in Anita, the son of Cyrus and Laura (Dorsey) Lattig. He worked as an over-the-road trucker and was a farmer until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of Teamsters Local 147 of Des Moines, Eagles Club of Creston, Odd Fellows Lodge of Macksburg and American Legion Post 184 of Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eugenia (Saxton) Lattig; a brother, Delmar Lattig, and two sisters, Ethelyn Spencer and Clarice Claypool.
He is survived by his son, Richard Lattig of Des Moines; four daughters, Sandra Jones (Jack) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Susan Lattig of Dallas, Texas, Sheila Carmichael (Sam) of Urbandale and Rebecca Connelly (Tom) of Wisconsin; three sisters, Lucy Kirkland and Harriett Garrett (Marvin), both of Macksburg and Isabel Duff of Winterset; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his longtime companion, Shirley Lattig of Macksburg; and her four daughters, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Macksburg or Home Care Hospice Greater Community Hospital in Creston. Funeral arrangements by Ochiltree, Winterset.
