SAMUEL IRL SWEET, St. Charles

Services for Samuel Irl Sweet, 88, St. Charles, a longtime area resident who died Feb. 12, 1983, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, were held
Tuesday, Feb. 15 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Merwin Strahan officiating. Burial was at Mt. Pelier Cemetery at Patterson.

Born at Fremont, Neb., April 5, 1894, he was the son of Ira and Lucy Veale Sweet. He had lived in Madison and Warren counties since 1931, coming from Adrian, Mo. He married Anna Elizabeth Rischmiller April 1, 1922 at Butler, Mo. He spent most of his life in farming and retired 23 years ago.

Survivors include his son, Gene Sweet of St. Charles; daughters, Irlene Johnson of Van Meter, Marjorie Boyd of St. Charles, Dorothy Hauck of Van Meter, Helen Hansen of Winthrop, Minn., and Carol Millican of Martensdale; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a granddaughter, twin gransons and a great grandson.
