Lorimor Services For JOHN SWAN

John Carl Swan of 516 E. Jefferson St. died Monday, Nov. 24, 1980, at his home at the age of 82. Mr. Swan had lived near Lorimor before moving here two years ago.

Born on Sept. 18, 1898, in Grimes, he was the son of George T. and Grace Miller Swan. He was united in marriage to Vivian Reed on Oct. 21, 1919, at Johnston, and she survives him.

A dairy farmer until his retirement in 1978, Mr. Swan was a member of the United Methodist Church at Lorimor, Masonic Fern Lodge 558 and Eastern Star Venus Chapter 295, both of Lorimor, and was a 40-year charter member of the Lorimor Lion's Club. He also served on the county fair board and ASC committee.

Also surviving are three daughters, Helen Grandfield of Winterset, Lydia Lucille Ewing of Des Moines and Pat Walker of Atchison, Kan.; two foster sons (nephews), John T. Reed and Richard Reed, both of Winterset; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Almeda Josephine Swan; a grandson, Rodney Grandfield; and two sisters, Beulah Snow and Clara Elder.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at the United Methodist Church of Lorimor with the Rev. Kathryn McDougal officiating. Burial was at the Ridgedale Cemetery at Camp Dodge.
