MRS. ALBERT POWELL DIED HERE SUNDAY

Several Years of Failing Health Ended for Local Woman

Mrs. Albert Powell who had been in poor health for several years, died at her home in Winterset, Sunday, April 11th, at the age of 60 years.

The deceased, the former Nancy Luverna Cooper, was the daughter of William and Lucy Cooper and was born in Madison county, Oct. 6, 1882. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Albert Austin Powell, Dec. 5, 1900. They were the parents of ten children.

She leaves her husband, and six daughters and three sons: Mrs. Helen Way of Norwalk, Mrs. Merle Downs of St. Charles, Mrs. Jessie Epperson of Pueblo, Colo., Mrs. Alberta Patrice and Mrs. Edna Smith of Winterset, Mrs. Christina Zimmerman of New York City, Maurice Powell at home, Earl Powell of Guthrie Center, and Mark of the U.S. army, stationed at Macon, Ga. A son, Charles William preceded the mother in death.

She also leaves her aged father, William Cooper, three brothers, Mark, George, and Frank Cooper, three sisters, Mrs. Rose Thompson, Edith Jarnigan and Mary Manor, and nine grandchildren.

She joined the United Brethren church in 1901.

The Rev. Tom Foglesong will conduct her funeral services at the Anderson home for funerals Thursday, April 15, at 2 p.m. and burial will be made in the Union Chapel cemetery.
