JAMES W. STUART, Dies in Des Moines

James W. Stuart, a long-time resident of Winterset, died July 25, 1945, at his home in Des Moines after a week's illness. He was 85 years old and had been in failing health the past year.

Mr. Stuart was born in Nodaway county, Missouri, on April 14, 1860. He was married to Louie Allen in 1893. They were the parents of three children. The wife and two children preceded the father in death.

In 1901 he was married to Amy Jinings. They were the parents of four children. The second wife died in 1943.

Mr. Stuart leaves five children, as follows: Carl Stuart of Des Moines, Mrs. Ellen Ball of Koshkonong, Mo., John Stuart of Winterset, Mrs. Mae Clyde of Winterset, and James Stuart of Des Moines. He also leaves 17 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three brothers, and a sister.

Funeral services were held July 29 in Des Moines in charge of the Rev. Melvin Hanson, pastor of the Foursquare church of Winterset. Burial was made in the King cemetery near St. Charles.
