December 25, 1946MRS. HENRY REHBEIN Of Van Meter Dies
Mrs. Henry Rehbein of Van Meter died at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Dec. 11, 1946 following a major operation. She had been in failing health for several years. She was 53 years of age.
Mrs. Rehbein had lived in north Madison county for many years, and was well known here. She was the former Laura D. Eichner, daughter of Conrad and Barbara Guttelbauer Eichner, and was born near Grimes, on May 3, 1893. Her early life ws spent in that community and in Clarke county. When she was a young woman she came with her parents to a farm six miles south of Booneville.
She was married to Henry Rehbein, Jan. 20, 1915, at Van Meter. They were the parents of eight children. One of their sons, Charles L. Rehbein, was killed in action on Okinawa on April 21, 1945.
Mrs. Rehbein was an active member of the Lutheran church.
She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Alma McClelland, and Pauline, Frieda, and Irene Rehbein; three sons, George, Herbert and Larry Rehbein; three sisters, Mrs. Sevina Stiefel of West Des Moines, Mrs. Anna Forret of Booneville, Mrs. Clara Forret of West Des Moines; and three brothers, John Eichner of Indianola, Fred Eichner of St. Charles, and Harry Eichner of near Booneville.
Funeral services were held Dec. 15 from Trinity Lutheran church in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Clarence G. Meyer. Burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery.
