Ray W. Tyer, a resident of Madison and Dallas counties for most of his life, died a his home in Winterset last Thursday after an illness of four weeks. He was 66 years of age.

Mr. Tyer was born near Adel April 6, 1880, the son of Frederick W. and Ida May Tyer. As a young man he joined the Methodist church near Adel, and later was an active member of the United Brethren church near Adel, and the United Presbyterian church of Winterset.

He was married March 21, 1906, to Lillie Belle McDonald. They were the parents of seven children, all of whom are living.

He is survived by his wife; the seven children, Earl Tyer of Omaha, Gilbert, Roscoe and Calvin Tyer of Winterset, and Mrs. Esther Pilmer and Mrs. Margaet Cameron of Winterset. He also leaves 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Burdette Tyer of Minburn and Edward Tyer of Luverne, Minn., and three sisters, Edith Tyer of Boone, Mrs. Mabel Kesting of Syracuse, and Mrs. Ray Leach of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Winterset United Presbyterian church and burial was made in the U. B. cemetery.
