Harold Kuhns, Johnston

Harold E. Kuhns, 68, of Johnston, died of a heart ailment May 3, 1996 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Services were held May 7 at the First Christian Church in Des Moines. The body was cremated.

He was born March 25, 1928 in Zion and graduated from Winterset High School in 1946.

He married Patricia Smith in 1948 at the Winterset Christian Church. They lived in the Des Moines area since 1949. He was a retired engineer for Deere & Co., and was a member of Auburn Masonic Lodge, the York Rite, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Industrial Management Club and Iowa Federation of Square Dancers. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Des Moines.

Surviving relatives include his wife; three daughters, Rita McMullen of Clive, Roxanne Fox of Des Moines and Robin Kuhns-Cunningham of Johnston; two brothers, Ralph Kuhns of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert Kuhns of Winterset; two sisters, Blanche Saunders of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Jean Baker of Winterset; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Johnston Public Library, Auburn Masonic Lodge or the First Christian Church in Des Moines.
