Services for Russell LeRoy Kuhns, 55, Creston, who died March 24 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, were held Saturday, March 26, at the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Creston, with the Rev. Dan Mixdorf officiating. Burial was at the Graceland Cemetery in Creston.
Born at Zion, Iowa on July 20, 1932, he was the son of Ernest and Merle Green Kuhns. He was married June 2, 1956 to Sharron D. Rogers of Council Bluffs.
Mr. Kuhns, a former Winterset resident, was a boiler operator. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church at Creston, the Elks Lodge, the Elks Clowns, and was past president of the Creston Junior Chamber of Commerce. He spent four years in the Navy.
Survivors include his wife; sons, George of Creston and Jason of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Debra Witt of Afton; seven grandchildren; sisters, Blanche Saunders of Nevada City, Calif., and Jean Baker of Winterset; brothers, Harold of Des Moines, Robert of Winterset, Lester of Pleasanton, Calif. and Ralph of Tucson, Ariz.; step-brothers, Harold Jackson of Winterset and Albert Jackson of Delta, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother.
