Paul William Kuentzel, 77, of Winterset, died June 5, 1994 at the Community Care Center in Winterset. Funeral services were today, Wednesday, with the Rev. Don Rothweiler officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
He was born September 3, 1916 in Monticello to Rev. Roland and Emma (Bingelli) Kuentzel.
He married Jeanne Esther Nuoffer in El Cerrito, Calif., on April 9, 1941. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church serving as choir director for many years and serving on the Church Council. He was also a member of the National Education Assoc.; Iowa State Education Assoc.; Iowa Band Masters Assoc.; American School Band Directors Assoc.; Winterset Teachers Assoc.; Lion's Club; American Legion and the United States Infantry from 1941-1945, serving his final duty in Europe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister.
Surviving relatives include his wife; two sons, Peter Kuentzel and wife Pat of Miami, Fla.; and Dr. William Kuentzel of Salt Lake City, Utah; one daughter, Kathryn Dykstra and husband Rev. Roger of Lake Mills; one sister, Esther Pepp and husband Leonard of Leesburg, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Paul Kuentzel Music Scholarship fund.
