Funeral services for Fred Henry Kreft, 95, were held Mon., Feb. 17 at St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Raymond Fechner of Des Moines and the Rev. Bill Gardner of St. Charles officiating. Burial was made at the St.Charles Cemetery. Mr. Kraft died Thurs., Feb. 13, at Veteran's Hospital in Knoxville where he had spent the last several years.
He was born January 2, 1897 in Sac County to Fred Henry and Louise (Geiles) Kreft and attended Coon Valley Schools. On August 6, 1949, he married Fern Nicoson Nixon in Des Moines. The couple had one child. He sold stained glass and paint and lived in Des Moines for 46 years. He was a member of the V.F.W., Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Moines and was a veteran of WW I.
Mrs. Kreft is survived by his wife; daughter, Bonnie Downs and husband Charles, of St. Charles; two grandchildren, Craig and Alan Downs; brother, Willis Kreft of Seattle, Wash. and three sisters, Olinda Kreft and Edna Garnatz of Lake City, Ia., and Esther Schmidt of Glen Ellyn, Ill.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Wilbert, and Alvin.
Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Moines.
