WINTERSET WOMAN DIED ON THURSDAY

Mrs. Gaylord Dabney Passes; Had Suffered Injury Last Year

Mrs. Gaylord Dabney, a well known Madison county woman, died at the Winterset hospital last Thursday after a long illness. She had suffered a fractured hip last year and had been bedfast since that time. She was 69 years of age.

Mrs. Dabney was the former Mary Ida Huston, daughter of Zachery Taylor and Phoebe Anne Huston, and was born in Iowa on June 29, 1873.

She was married to Gaylord Dabney on Jan. 29, 1896. They were the parents of nine children. Mr. Dabney died in 1935, and two of the children, Richard Dabney and Mrs. Grace McBride, also preceded the mother in death.

The surviving children are: Mrs. Helen Bruce of Highland Park, Ill., John Dabney of Montrose, Colo., Mrs. Lelia Gregory of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Vera Rice of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Doris Vincent of Winterset, Mrs. Alice Smith of Chicago, and Charles Dabney of Chicago. She also leaves a brother, Earl Huston of Boise, Ida., and a half-brother, Taylor Huston of West Des Moines, and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Winterset Methodist church, Monday in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp, and the Rev. Tom Foglesong. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Pallbearers were Garland Howell, Clarence Howell, Paul Griffith, Dan and Blaine Miles and Shirley Webster.
