Gaylord Kooker, Winterset

Gaylord Kooker, 80, of Winterset, died of a heart attack Feb. 22, 1995 at his home. Funeral services were Feb. 25 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. The Rev. Don Frank officiated the services with burial at the Winterset Cemetery.

He was born in Polk County on July 16, 1914 to Ilo Victor and Edith Electa (Daniels) Kooker. He married Dorothy May Warnock on Dec. 22, 1939 in Kansas City, Kan. He was a retired asbestos worker and a farmer. He had lived in Madison County for the past 45 years. He had served with the United States Naval Reserves and was a member of the Asbestos Workers Local No. 74 of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.

Surviving relatives include his wife; one son, Raymond Kooker and wife Karla of Winterset; one daughter, Vicki Sorensen and husband Dale of Adair; one brother, Richard Kooker of Des Moines; two sisters, Ruby Dagnillo of Des Moines and Evelyn Dagnillo of Des Moines; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
