Ernest G. Reed Funeral Monday

Ernest Gordon Reed of Villa West Care Center in Winterset died Wednesday, February 6, at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 80.

Born on November 27, 1899 at Staunton, Va., he was the son of Luther and Mattie Hamilton Reed. He was united in marriage to Anna Delts, who preceded him in death in October of 1927. He married Margaret Baylor at Villa West, and she survives him. Mr. Reed owned the Vault Plant in Vinton and was caretaker of Evergreen Cemetery there. He attended the Presbyterian Church.

Also surviving are his son, Tom Reed of Winterset; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 10 brothers and sisters.

Private services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 11, at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Parker officiating. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery at Vinton.
