Former Recorder Dies At Age 90

Mrs. Mildred E. Knott, a former Madison county official, died Oct. 5th at West Park Care Center in West Des Moines. She was 90 years of age.

Mrs. Knott served as Madison County Recorder from 1928 to 1932.

She was a graduate of St. Charles High School. The family lived in Winterset from 1923 to 1933, moving to Des Moines 44 years ago.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist church.

Mrs. Knott is survived by two daughters,Mrs. Karl (Ercell) Penniwell of Des Moines, and Mrs. Wm. L. (Ethyl) Read of Sarasota, Florida; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one brother, Howard Ward of Alleman, Iowa; and one sister, Nora Heggen of Alleman

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E.; and a daughter, Fern Fitzpatrick.

A private cremation service was held.
