Life-Long Resident of Grand River Township Died April 16
Funeral services for Fields W. Cochran, widely known resident of the Macksburg community, were held on Wednesday of last week from the Macksburg Methodist church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. J. E. Englund. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery.
Mr. Cochran's death occurred April 16 at his home at Macksburg, after several months of failing health. He was 62 years of age. His entire life was spent in this county. He was born in Grand River township on May 30, 1881, the son of Wesley and Elizabeth Cochran. He was educated in the Macksburg school and the Waterloo Business college. With the exception of a year as a school teacher, his entire life was spent in farming.
He was married Sept. 9, 1906, to Miss Bessie M. Logsdon. They were the parents of three children. The wife and mother died in 1938; and on Nov. 27, 1941, he was married to Mrs. Mary Naylor of Des Moines, who survives him.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children, Mrs. Edward Jacobe of Des Moines, Mrs. Don Waggoner of Webster City and Vaun W. Cochran of the U.S. army; two step-sons, William B. Naylor of Los Angeles, Calif., and Hoyt Naylor of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ira Tucker of Macksburg; and three brothers, Lee, Walter and Fred Cochran, all of Macksburg.
