Funeral services for Wilbur V. Mease, 76, were held Aug. 10 at the Schneringer-Johnson & Govier Bros. funeral chapel with Arthur Hinder officiating. Masonic services were conducted.

Pallbearers were Gifford Coble, Cyrus O. Miller, Alfred Peltzer, Elmer Nelson, Gerald A. Thurman and J. P. Batten. Mrs. Selden Wenquist sang.

Wilber Vincent Mease was born Aug. 8, 1884 near Peru, Iowa, the son of John Cyrus and Laura Ann Mease. He was united in marriage to Lilly Lenore Dudney on March 22, 1905. To this union were born two sons, Richard B. of Canton, Mo. and Willis E. of Richlands, N.C.

Wilbur and Lilly Mease moved to a farm north of Broken Bow from Madison county, Iowa in 1912. In 1918, they moved to a farm east of Broken Bow where he lived until his health failed in 1958. Since that time he has resided at the Ballard Rest Home in Broken Bow.

Wilbur Mease had been an active participant in the Methodist church since his early youth. His present membership was in the Berwyn Methodist church. He was a faithful attendant of the several branches of the Masonic Order, holding membership in the Emmet Crawford Lodge 148 A.F. & A.M., Horab Chapter No. 49, Royal Arch Masons, Custer Council No. 18 of the Royal and Select Masters and Shiloh Commandery No. 23 of the Knights Templar.

He died in Broken Bow on Aug. 7, 1960 at the age of 76 years. He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 26, 1955.

Leaving to mourn his passing besides his immediate family are 4 granddaughters and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Purvis of Truro, Ia. and Mrs. Ray Spera of Winterset, Ia.

WILBUR MEASE DIED IN NEBRASKA SUNDAY

Wilbur V. Mease, a native of the Peru community, died Sunday, Aug. 7, at a rest home in Broken Bow, Nebraska, where he had been a patient 16 months following a stroke. He was 76 years of age.

Mr. Mease was born at Peru Aug. 8, 1884, a son of Cyrus and Laura Mease. He was married there to Lilly Dudney. They observed their Golden Wedding anniversary on March 22, 1955, but Mrs. Mease died the following September.

He leaves two sons, Richard Mease of Canton, Missouri and Willis Mease of Richlands, N. C.; four granddaughters; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Purvis of Truro and Mrs. Alma Spera of Winterset.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday afternoon from the Glover Funeral home in Broken Bow; with burial in the cemetery there.
