Larry A. McVay, 65, of Afton died Jan. 17, 2005, at his home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 22, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston with the Rev. Dwayne Henrichs officiating. Burial was at Moon Cemetery in rural Macksburg.
Larry McVay was born Aug. 31, 1939, to Forrest H. and Velma H. (Klos) McVay of Orient. He attended Zion and Thayer schools, and, from 1960–63, served in the United States Navy. On Oct. 16, 1966, he married Claudia M. Boyd in Las Vegas, Nev. They lived in the Riverside, Calif., area where he drove a cement truck. Larry later married Wanda Manley on June 13, 1987, in Riverside, where they resided. In 1992, he moved to Lenox. Since 1997, he has been a resident of Afton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Helen Finnegan, Patricia Ambrose and Kathryn Craig; and three brothers, Keith, Michael and Daniel McVay.
He is survived by four sons, Larry McVay Jr. of Ashland, Ill., Clifford McVay and Robert McVay, both of Nevada, Mo., and Gary McVay of Kent; two daughters, Melissa Loiselle of Nevada, Mo., and Kimberly McVay of Las Vegas, Nev.; one stepson, Dalton Manley of Las Vegas, Nev.; four brothers, Duane McVay of Rogers, Ark., John McVay of Harrison, Ark., and Abe McVay and Calvin McVay, both of Winterset; two sisters, Judy Tull and Beth McGrath, both of Afton; and 12 grandchildren.
