Rosa Ellen Kirsch of Runnells, a native of Peru, died Tuesday, February 12, at Des Moines General Hospital at the age of 94. Mrs. Kirsch had lived in Runnells the past seven years.
Born on September 28, 1885 in Peru, she was the daughter of Elijah and Martha Hagg Hayden. She attended Madison County schools and on March 5, 1903 was united in marriage to Jacob Joseph Kirsch in Afton. Her husband survives her. Mrs. Kirsch was a member of the Christian Church in Peru.
Also surviving are five children, Cepha Olson of Prole, Grace Decker of Winterset, Nona Clark of California, Darlene Dooley of Runnells and Everett Kirsch of Washington state; a grandson whom she raised, Jakie Rickets of Washington state; a brother, Ted Hayden of Lorimor; 27 grandchildren; 89 great-grandchildren and 46 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, a daughter, three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 14, at the Methodist Church in Peru with Rev. George Campbell officiating. Burial will be at the Peru Cemetery.
