Augusta Emily Kirkendall, Winterset

Graveside services for Augusta Emily Kirkendall, 93, a resident of Bethesda Care Center, Winterset, who died Aug. 26 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital were held Monday afternoon, Aug. 27 at the Winterset Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Borger officiating.

Born at Sloan, Iowa on Oct. 9, 1890, she was the daughter of John and Ruth Holdcroft.

She had lived in the area from 1945 to 1953 and then moved to Des Moines in 1979, moving back here at that time. She was a waitress for five years at Tim's Cafe.

She was married to Benjamin Kiddoo in 1910. He died in 1950. She was married to Philip Kirkendall in 1953 and he died to 1973. Mrs. Kirkendall was a member of the VFW and American Legion auxiliaries.

Survivors include sons, Raymond Kiddoo of Winterset and Billie Kiddoo of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Zelma Krogan of Los Gatos, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and two sisters.
