Susie B. Kirk Funeral Friday

Susie Belle Kirk of rural Lorimor died Tuesday, April 15, at Winterset Care Center North at the age of 93. Mrs. Kirk had been a Madison County resident for 50 years.

Born on Jan. 29, 1887, in Norton, Kan., she was the daughter of L. J. and Nancy Jane O'Brien Camp. She migrated by covered wagon to Nebraska in 1891 and again by covered wagon to Liberal, Mo., after a year in Nebraska. She moved to Hopeville about 1896.

On Feb. 24, 1914, she was united in marriage to Joseph Kirk at rural Murray. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1961. They lived in Clarke County until 1930 and then moved to Madison County, four miles north of Lorimor. Mrs. Kirk lived there until January when she entered the care center.

Mrs. Kirk was a charter member of the Madison Chapel Church of Christ of rural Murray and a 50-year member of Eastern Star Chapter 295 of Lorimor.

Survivors include four children, Richard Kirk, Gerdon Kirk, Kathleen Seales and Norma Jane Woodley, all of Lorimor; 12 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Estella Kirk of Winterset; and a brother, Marvin J. Camp of Winterset. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the Lorimor Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Ferguson officiating. Burial was at Union Cemetery north of Murray. Watts-Lindsay Funeral Home in Lorimor was in charge of arrangements.
