Maxine Kirk-Joy, Winterset

Maxine Elizabeth Kirk-Joy, 72, of Winterset, died Jan. 5, 1996 at Winterset Care Center North. Funeral services were Jan. 8, 1996 at the First Christian Church in Winterset with the Rev. Bobby Dickerson officiating. Burial was in the Union Cemetery in Clarke County.

She was born in Osceola on Dec. 10 1923 to Oscar and Bertha (Ruark) Morrow. She married Wendell Kirk on Aug. 15, 1942 at Bethany, Mo.; she later married Lloyd Joy. On June 28, 1986, she married Carl Hircock in Lorimor. She was a 1943 graduate of Winterset High School and a homemaker and waitress.

She had been an employee of the Bizz-Mart grocery store for many years and had also been a waitress at the Gold Buffet dining room. She was a member of the Church of God in Lorimor and V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her first two husbands; her parents; and a sister.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Carl Hircock of Des Moines; a son, Allen Kirk and wife Shirley of Lorimor; a daughter, Donna Williams and husband, Bob of Norwalk; a step-son, Martin Hircock and wife, Mary of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Galen Morrow and Bob Morrow, both of Des Moines; a sister, Evelyn Camp of Peru; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church.
