Max D. Kirk, 66, of Lorimor died of cancer Nov. 10, 2002 at Greater Community Hospital in Creston.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with Pastor Dwayne Henrichs officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 13) with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be at Barney Cemetery, Monroe Township, Madison County.
Max Kirk was born Nov. 18, 1935, in Clarke County to John Raymond and Wilma Marie (McChesney) Kirk. He was a 1954 graduate of Lorimor High School. On Sept. 6, 1958, he married Sandra D. Overton at Simpson Methodist Church in Des Moines. A lifelong resident of the Lorimor area, Max was a farmer, retiring in 1993.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra D. of Lorimor; three sons, Steve Kirk of Winterset, Terry Kirk of Jamestown, Ind., and John Kirk (wife Jennifer) of Menomonie, Wis.; two daughters, Lori Kuttler (husband Jerry) of Perry and Beth Johnson (husband Daniel) of Frederic, Wis.; four brothers, Raymond Kirk (wife Joyce) of Chariton and Benjamin Kirk (wife Virginia), Larry Kirk (wife Mildred) and Ronald Kirk (wife Ann) all of Lorimor, all of Lorimor; three sisters, Helen Powers of Winterset, Patricia Grandfield (husband David) of Lorimor and Barbara Waller (husband Bill) of Oskaloosa; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
