MRS. NOAH BLOSSER DIED ON SUNDAY

Widely Known Naturalist Had Lived at Patterson Past Four Years

Mrs. Noah Blosser, a resident of near Patterson for the past four years, died at the Winterset hospital Sunday night, after a brief illness. She had been taken from her home to the hospital earlier in the day. She was 54 years of age.

Mrs. Blosser was widely known in natrualist circles throughout the state, and at one time served as president of the Iowa Audubon society.

Mrs. Blosser was the former Kate Elizabeth LaMar, daughter of Robert and Julia Rogers LaMar, and was born near Elmo, Mo., on Nov. 21, 1889. She was educated in the Elmo schools, in the State Teachers' college at Warrensburg, Mo., and the University of California at Berkely. Thereafter she taught school in several states, and for 17 years served in the public schools at Des Moines.

She was married to Noah Blosser of Patterson four years ago, and since then her home had been in that community. She is survived by her father and her foster mother, of Elmo, Mo.; one brother, Stephen LaMar of St. Joseph, Mo.; and six sisters, Mrs. Charles Tudder of Elmo, Mrs. Harold Johnson and Mary LaMar of Des Moines; Mrs. Francis Barmann of Maryville, Mo., Mrs. Maude Ella Johnson of Iowa Falls; Mrs. Dorothy Hallsa of Elmo; and Mrs. Roberta Kinman of Los Angeles. One brother was killed just a week ago in a highway accident.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Patterson Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. Michael Millen. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Prominent Patterson Citizen Dies Feb 6

Citizens of the Patterson community are mourning the loss of one of their most active citizens, Mrs. Noah Blosser, who died February 6, at the Winterset hospital after an illness of two months.

Mrs. Blosser, formerly Kate Elizabeth LeMar, the daughter of Robert T. and Julia Rogers LeMar was born November 21, 1889 at LeMar Station near Elmo, Missouri.

She was educated in the public schools of Missouri, graduating from the Warrensburg StateTeachers college, later attending school at the University of California in the University of Colorado. For several years she was a teacher in the Des Moines schools, serving as assistant principal of Clarkson for a number of years.

Since her marriage to Noah Blosser on June 9, 1940, her home had been at Patterson where she had made herself a part of the community, taking an active interest in many affairs of the community. She served as a member of the county 4-H board, 4H club leader for her township, became a member of the Methodist church of Patterson and served as president of the Bevington Garden club.

Mrs. Blosser was a nature lover, helping to promote many projects pertaining to the study and better enjoyment of bird and plant life. For twenty years, she had been a member of the Des Moines Audubon Society, during which time she served as president and leader of the field trips. She was treasurer of the Iowa Ornithologists Union for a number of years and was selected one summer to attend the wild life school sponsored by the National Audubon Society, held on an island off the coast of Maine. Another summer was spent at the Allegheny School of Natural Research in Pennsylvania. Since moving to Patterson Mrs. Blosser had been making a study of the native grasses of Iowa. She was a member of the M. S. Root Circle of King’s Daughters and of a D.A.R. Chapter.

She is survived by her husband, Noah Blosser, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tehune LeMar of Elmo, Missouri; her sisters, Mrs. Charles Tudder and Mrs. Orville Hallso, also of Elmo; Mrs. Francis L. Barmann of Maryville, Missouri; Mrs. Bernard L. Johnson of Iowa Falls, Iowa; Mrs. Orr Kinman of Long Beach, California; Mrs. Mary LaMar Livengood and Mrs. Harold C. Johnson of Des Moines; one brother, Stephen of St. Joseph, Missouri.
