DEATH OF MRS. KIRBY OCCURRED AT 90 YEARS

Was Widow of James Kirby; Who Died About 20 Years Ago

Mrs. Elizabeth Kirby, whose death at her home in Des Moines on Friday, March 5, was reported in the Madisonian last week, was the widow of James Kirby, a well-known stock-raiser and farmer of the Patterson community for many years. Mrs. Kirby was 90 years of age at the time of her death. Her husband had died about 20 years ago.

Mrs. Kirby was born near Cummings on a farm purchased from the government by her parents, Patrick and Elizabeth Hoey. After her marriage to Mr. Kirby, they lived on their farm near Patterson, which the family still retains, until 1920, when they retired and moved to Des Moines.

Mrs. Kirby had been in frail health since a hip fracture suffered last summer.

Surviving are two sons, John C. Kirby of El Monte, Calif., and William W. Kirby of Las Vegas, Nev.; three daughters, Mrs. E. V. Baldwin of Rapid City, S.Dak., and Mrs. A. L. Kiddie and Mary Kirby of Des Moines; and three granddaughters.

Funeral services were held from St. Augustine's church in Des Moines, and burial was made in Glendale cemetery there.
