RAY G. KING OF WINTERSET DIES

Was Retired After 60 Years In Clothing Business Here

Ray G. King, retired Winterset business man, died at Memorial hospital Saturday, March 18, after several years of failing health. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. King was a life-long resident of Winterset. He had been in the clothing business here for 60 years, and had a wide acquaintance throughout this area

He was born in Winterset on Jan. 24, 1886, a son of Wallace and Jessie Klingman King. He was married April 28, 1907 to Bertie Harris of Winterset. They were parents of a son and two daughters. The wife and mother died May 13, 1959.

Mr. King started work in the clothing business here when he was 14 years of age. He purchased the present King Clothing store in 1919 and operated it until his retirement in 1956.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Knights of Pythias here.

Surviving are his son, Lloyd T. King of Winterset; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Briggie of Winterset and Mrs. Mary Dodd of Greeley Colo.; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; and his twin brother Roy W. King of Glendale, Calif.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Richards Funeral home, with the Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset officiating. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
