Evelyn Lorraine Travis, 82, died March 1, 2002, at Fort Scott Medicalodge, Fort Scott, Kansas.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 5, at Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel in Fort Scott. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery.

Evelyn Travis was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Cass County to Alvin and Sue (Parker) Finch. She married Carroll Blake Brooker in 1936. He preceded her in death in 1948. On Feb. 22, 1953, she married Sylvester Earl Travis in Winterset. Evelyn assisted Mr. Travis in his pastoral work in Kansas and Missouri prior to his retirement. She was a member of the Bethel Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and two brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Earl, of Fort Scott; two daughters, Shirley Brooker Pittman of Sunrise Beach, Mo., and Janet Ruth Miller of Lincoln, Neb.; five sons, Richard Lee Brooker of Iowa City, William C. Brooker of Cedar Rapids, Mark Allen Travis of Clarksville, Tenn., Timothy E. Travis of Fort Scott and Paul A. Travis of Roeland Park, Kan.; a brother, Lyle Finch of Vail, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
