Floy Evelyn Torvid, 78, of Monrovia, Calif., died Jan. 2, 2005.
A memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 27, at Arlington Avenue Church of the Nazerene in Riverside, Calif.
Floy Torvid was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Winterset to Fred and Carrie Allen. She was a 1944 graduate of Monrovia Duarte High. For 35 years, Floy was employed as a grocery clerk at Market Basket/Kroegers, retiring from Boys Market. She also was a volunteer at the Boys Republic Thrift Shop and a member of the Santa Anita Lawn Bowling Club.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Roy and Myron Park, and two sisters, Laura Francine Adams and Maxine Rinard.
She is survived by her companion, John Spalenka, of California; two brothers, Herbert and Jack; and two sisters, Mae Baker and Lucile Burkholder.
Arrangements were handled by Acheson & Graham Mortuary.
