Bob Towns, 91, died May 9, 2001, at Crest Haven Care Center in Creston.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 12, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Joyce Smith officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery of rural Crston.
Bob Towns was born June 18, 1909, to Roy Hugh and Lulu Carrie (Frakes) Towns of Dexter. He received his education in the Dexter School system. On May 6, 1930, he married Eva May Hochstetler in Dexter. A lifetime farmer, Bob had resided in the Dexter, Stuart and Orient areas prior to moving to the Creston area in 1950. He was a member of the Jerusalem United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother.
He is survived by five daughters, Thelma Clark (husband Marvin) and Bonnie Powell (husband Leo), both of Creston, Virginia Cash (husband Don) of Monroe, Alberta Ehm (husband Edwin) of Arispe and Karen Schaff (Husband Jack) of Murray; two sisters-in-law, Lelah Luckinbill (husband Kenneth) of Winterset and Anna Brown of Earlham; one brother-in-law, Francis Hochstetler (wife Dorothy) of Winterset; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren
