Funeral services for Elizabeth Towell, 58, wife of Rolland Towell, former paastor of St. Charles parish, were held March 12, 1983, in Cedar Rapids. Burial was at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Towell, daughter of Ralph and Mary Frances (Burton) Childs, was born in Hoopeston, Ill., on June 9, 1924. She graduated from high school in Danville, Ill.

She was married to the Rev. Rolland C. Towell on Sept. 17, 1944, in Morgansfield, Ky. She was an accomplished artist in oil painting and a seamstress. She became interested in quilting and was on the founding board of the Quilter's Guild.

She is survived by her husband, Rolland; daughters, Lana S. Horton of Decatur, Ill., and Pamela Towell of Mattoon, Ill.; two grandchildren; her stepmother, Katherine Childs of Danville, Ill.; brothers, William Childs of Paris,Calif., and John Childs of Mahomet, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. Vivian Smith of Hoppeston, Ill.
