Jim Kephart, Winterset

James Allen Kephart, 71, died July 31, 1993 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City. Funeral services were held August 3 at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. John Shaull officiating. Burial was at Jackson Township cemetery with military services.

Mr. Kephart was born in Peru, October 6, 1921 to Thomas and Marvie (Smith) Kephart. He married Irene Mabbitt, December 5, 1952 in Winterset. A lifelong resident here, he was a retired construction worker and laborer. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Irene of Winterset; two stepsons, Thomas Allen of Winterset and Raymond Evans of Toledo, Ia.; two stepdaughters, Lucille Gearhart of Aurora, Colo., and Phyllis Welshons of Buffalo, Minn.; two brothers, Thomas Kephart of Spencer and Anderson Kephart of Winterset; four sisters, Mildred Hopkins of Des Moines, Hazel Snell of Greenfield, Mary Chapman and Edna Kephart, both of Winterset; nine step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
