Irene Kephart, Winterset

Irene Elizabeth Kephart, 80, died of a heart ailment Feb. 4, 2002, at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the Rev. Bill Branson officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday Feb. 6) with the family present from 6:30-8 p.m. Burial will be at Jackson Township Cemetery, Madison County.

Irene Kephart was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Madison County to John W. and Ardelia (Lamb) Mabbitt. A homemaker, Irene was a lifetime resident of Madison County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands, Cass Evans, Tom Allen and James Kephart; a son; four brothers; two sisters; a granddaughter and three great-grandsons.

She is survived by a son, Tom Allen (wife Anita) of Winterset; two daughters, Lucille Gearhart of Aurora, Colo., and Phyllis Welshons (husband Ray) of Buffalo, Minn.; a sister, Vada Criss of Topeka, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to her family.
