Funeral services for Alvin Martin Kephart of Winterset will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 6, at Collins Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Peru Cemetery with Rev. Charles Updike officiating. Mr. Kephart died Monday, December 3, at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 74.

Born on January 5, 1905 at Peru, he was the son of Thomas Jefferson and Marvie Smith Kephart. He was united in marriage with Evelyn Hulbert on January 6, 1950 at Grant City, Missouri. His wife survives him. A lifetime resident, Mr. Kephart was a farm laborer.

Also surviving are a son, Alvin Kephart, Jr. of Winterset; a stepson, George Post of Knoxville; three brothers, James and Anderson of Winterset and Thomas of Spencer; six sisters, Sadie McKinney and Mabel Diggs of Newton, Mildred Hopkins and Mary Chapman of Des Moines, Hazel Snell of Greenfield and Edna Kephart of Winterset; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
