Long-Time Scott Township Resident Dies at Home in Winterset
Walter J. Schoenenberger, member of a prominent Madison county family, died last Saturday at his home in Winterset. He had been stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage the preceding Tuesday and his condition gradually became worse. He was 65 years of age.
Mr. Schoenenberger was born Jan. 11, 1881, in Walnut township, the son of John and Lavina Schoenenberger. He was married Jan. 14, 1903, to Cora Jane Welch. They started housekeeping on a farm in Scott township, where they lived until 1943. Mr. Schoenenberger's health having failed, they moved to Winterset at that time.
He is survived by his wife; two brothers, Guy Schoenenberger of Winterset and Iver Schoenenberger of Peru; eight nephews, and 13 nieces. One brother and one sister have preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held here Monday from Anderson's Home for Funerals, in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
