O. E. HARRELL DIES OF HEART ATTACK

Prominent Resident of Scott Township was 58 Years of Age

O. E. Harrell, well known Scott township farmer, died at his home early Wednesday morning, April 27, at the age of 58 years, following a heart attack. Mr. Harrell had not been well during the winter months, and had a major operation in February. He recovered from the operation, and was apparently improving satisfactorily. However he suffered a severe heart attack Tuesday evening and death came shortly after five o'clock the next morning.

Omer Ellsworth Harrell, a son of Edgar and Julia Etta Harrell, was born August 31, 1887, on the farm which was homesteaded by the former's grandfather. He resided on this farm and in Walnut township until he was married to Miss Bessie Thompson of Des Moines, March 18, 1908. She had been teaching school near his home and since their marriage they have resided near the Zion church. In 1919, "Jake", as he was familiarly known, and his wife moved to the farm on which he had been born, and this place had since been their home.

Mr. Harrell had been a member of the Methodist church since he was a youth. He always took an active interest in the affairs of his church and community and was well known in Winterset and Madison county.

Mr. and Mrs. Harrell were the parents of one daughter, Katherine. He leaves his wife, the daughter, Mrs. John E. Cunningham, and a granddaughter, Mary Katherine of Winterset. He is also survived by his father, Edgar Harrell; and four sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Glen Newton, Gail Harrell and Mrs. Loren Jones, all of Winterset, Glen Harrell of Alliance, Neb., Mrs. Henderson McDonald and Mrs. Tom Gordon of Aumsville, Ore., and William Lee Harrell of Peru. His mother, one brother, and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral arrangements had not been definitely made, when the Madisonian went to press Wednesday afternoon, but it was thought that they would be held at the Methodist church in Winterset Friday afternoon.

(Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery)
