McTighe said he was driving east on University avenue with his wife and did not see the tow truck until he was about 10 feet from it.

“The truck and car were in the middle of the street,” McTighe said. “There was no flare to warn me. The only light was on the rear of the tow truck, and that was obscured by the car behind it.”

McTighe said he put on his brakes and swerved his car but that his left front fender struck the other automobile.

The car Creger was preparing to tow is owned by William Weise, 3817 Ingersoll ave. Weise struck a parked car.

Harold Ersland of Ankeny, a dairyman, who was riding with Weise, suffered cuts and bruises. He was taken to Broadlawns.
