Mrs. Maude C. Tipling, a former resident of Winterset, died at the Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield on Wednesday, January 9, 1974. She was 83 years of age.
Mrs. Tipling was born in Clinton County, Iowa, on April 11, 1890, the daughter of William Owen and Josephine Miller Owen. She married William Tipling on February 23, 1910.
Mrs. Tipling moved to Winterset with her husband in 1958, and lived here until July of 1973, when she entered the Good Samaritan Center in Fontanelle following major surgery.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Wayne Mallatt of El Centro, Calif., and three sons: Robert Tipling of Greenfield; Dale Tipling of Tucson, Ariz.; and Don Tipling of DeSoto, Iowa. She is also survived by 12 grandchilden and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Grace Knudson of Rochester, Minn.; a bother, Earl Owen of Mason City; a half-brother, Spencer Owen of Baltimore, Ohio; and a half-sister, Mary Shilling of Rockford, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two children, five brothers, one sister, two grandsons, and one great granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 11 at the Ewing Funeral Home in Fontanelle, with the Rev. R. V. Vanderhoef presiding. Burial was in the Fontanelle cemetery.
