Jean Wight Kelly, Winterset

Jean Kelly, 72, passed away December 18, 2003 in Redding, Calif., after a struggle with ovarian cancer. She was born April 10, 1931 in Crookston, Minn., the daughter of George and Marguerite Bek Wight. Jean was a 1949 graduate of Winterset High School. She attended Cotty College and graduated from the University of Missouri. She was an English teacher in Redding until she retired in 1986.

Jean is survived by her husband, Richard, and children, Charles of Hayden, Ind.; Steven of Davis, Calif.; and Susan Rogers of Red Oak, Texas. Survivors include sisters, Gwen de la Rosa of El Paso, Texas; Lynne Wayne of Riverside, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Winterset area survivors include Aunts Maxine Bruett, Mildred Bek, and Fone Wight.

A memorial service was held Saturday, December 27, 2003 in Redding, Calif. with Charles Kelly officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Jean Kelly Memorial Library Fund, Enterprise High School, 3411 Church Creek Road, Redding, Calif., 96002.
