Services Held For Mrs. Keast

Elsie Marie McBride Keast, 84, died Tuesday, October 10th, at Wesley Acres in Des Moines where she had been a resident for several years.

Mrs. Keast was the daughter of Benjamin F. and Anna Bowlsby McBride, born July 29, 1894 at the farm home near Earlham. She graduated from the Earlham High School in 1913 and on July 29, 1914 married to Arthur P. Keast, minister of the Methodist Church. Together they served more than fifty years in various churches in the south Iowa conference and Rev. Keast served as minister of the Winterset Methodist Church from 1927 to 1933. Other churches where they served were in Corydon, Trinity Methodist in Des Moines, Fairfield and Creston.

Mrs. Keast was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Keast, December 12, 1978, a foster daughter, Berta Jeanne Darlington, her parents, a sister, Blanche and two brothers, Charles and Isaac. A foster daughter, Ruth Ocain of Noxon, Montana and a brother, Jess McBride, who lives in Hubbard, Oregon with his son, survives.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday October 13th in Des Moines with burial at the Worthington Cemetery Cemetery near Earlham. A great nephew, Rev. John C. Darlington, of Massena, conducted the services and burial.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
