Clarence W. Bailey, well known resident of Winterset, died at his home here Friday, Jan. 21, 1955, of a spasmatic asthma attack. He was 62 years of age, and had been in failing health the last five years.
Mr. Bailey was born in Warren county Dec. 29, 1892, a son of Thomas R. and Kate A. Bailey. He had spent most of his life in Madison county. For the last 27 years he had worked as an electrician here.
He was married Dec. 24, 1914, to Bertha Mae Patton.
He was a member of the Winterset Foursquare church where he held the office of deacon and served on the church council.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bertha M. Bailey; four children, Mrs. Mary L. Stalcup of Patterson, Dorothy M. Bailey of Winterset, Bertha L. Bailey of Des Moines, and Hugh R. Bailey of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Willis and Guy Bailey, both of Winterset.
Services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. H. D. Rosenberger, former pastor, and the Rev. LeRoy Bussinger, present pastor of the Winterset Foursquare Church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
